§ 7-107. Bond required of contractors.

  • (a)

    Except as provided in subsection (b), any person carrying on the business of contracting as listed in section 7-106, and desiring to charge permit fees to be paid to the county by the tenth of each month, shall give a good and sufficient bond in the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00). Bond forms shall be furnished by the county, as approved by the county attorney. Such bonds shall be payable to the county should the contractor default payment of outstanding permit and/or reinspection fees owed the county by the tenth of the month. Billing for charged permit fees shall be mailed no later than the last day of each month. Payment shall be considered in default if not paid by the tenth of the following month.

    (b)

    The bond required in subsection (a) is waived for state licensed general contractors. Permits still can be charged and fees paid to the county by the tenth of each month.
